Junrui's Lab

About the Lab

Our Mission

The Structural Research Group, led by Junrui Zhang, focuses on developing innovative and sustainable solutions for the strengthening and retrofitting of civil infrastructure. Through cutting-edge research, we investigate the behavior of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) systems, advanced anchorage solutions, and the mechanics of bonded interfaces under static and seismic loading.

About Junrui Zhang

Junrui Zhang is a researcher (Ph.D.) and a R&D Engineer, studying seismic strengthening with CFRP and FRP-concrete interfacial behavior. His work bridges research and practice, contributing to design updates. With international experience in China, the U.S., and New Zealand, Junrui brings a global, impact-driven approach to structural resilience.

Research Highlights

2026-2028 — Seismic Performance Modeling

Advanced simulations of EB-FRP retrofitted RC structures under earthquake loading using FEM and physics based prediction.

2021-2025 — Design Methods for Strengthening of RC Structures using EB-FRP Systems

Large-scale testing and modeling of fibre anchored externally bonded CFRP systems strengthening on reinforced concrete structures.

2018-2021 — Bond Behaviour Between Rebar and UHPC

Developed a custom user-defined element (UEL) to model the bond–slip behaviour between reinforcing steel and ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC).
