Our Mission
The Structural Research Group, led by Junrui Zhang at the University of Auckland, focuses on developing innovative and sustainable solutions for the strengthening and retrofitting of civil infrastructure. Through cutting-edge research, we investigate the behavior of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) systems, advanced anchorage solutions, and the mechanics of bonded interfaces under static and seismic loading.
About Junrui Zhang
Junrui Zhang is a researcher (Ph.D.) at the University of Auckland and a R&D Engineer at Simpson Strong-Tie, studying seismic strengthening with CFRP and FRP-concrete interfacial behavior. Backed by MBIE and QuakeCoRE, his work bridges research and practice, contributing to ACI 440.2R design updates. With international experience in China, the U.S., and New Zealand, Junrui brings a global, impact-driven approach to structural resilience.
